Join the By the Beach Committee, as we celebrate a truly inspirational grassroots accomplishment: the anticipated payoff of our loan for the lot located at 3044 Lake Shore Drive, forever preserving it in perpetuity from thoughtless development. Our effort was born of a shared vision- one that required many neighbors- friends and strangers alike- to act and give generously together in the name of preservation.

This is a truly remarkable feat and we would be remiss were we not to focus on the generosity it took from all involved to turn this vision into a reality! Guests will be treated to the official mortgage burning accompanied by a prosecco toast, Miller's Pizza and Burn 'Em beer. A bonfire will continue into the evening.        

Shoreland Hills is once again participating in the Dunebrook Annual Dragon Boat race.    

For the uninitiated, rowing is the truest of team sports, as each paddler relies on the beat of the drummer (who mimics the stroke as determined by the sterns man) with, ideally, all the paddlers being both synchronous and utilizing the same basic paddle stroke. The annual event raises much-needed funds for Dunebrook, a nonprofit organization that has been serving families in “the Region” since 1989 through programs focused on providing support for safe, healthy and happy children and families. While the main focus of the event remains raising funds for Dunebrook and awareness of their services, we certainly want to put our best paddle forward, as it were. Last year the Shoreland Hills and Friends boat produced the seventh fastest time out of twenty teams in the final round (which includes the three established teams that vied for the championship). With more folks already signed up, we hope to have an all-Shoreland Hills team. That said, this requires a commitment to be at the one practice we have (the afternoon/evening before the event) and the three heats each team completes during the event.
